Artist Statement

When I am inspired to paint, sculp or draw people and nature, I ‘ve seen in different parts of my country, I try to convey the feelings I have for heritage and roots, and to capture the atmosphere that is a true reflection of our people.
Certainly no artist can denied cultural heritage, roots, nature and the impact of such on their creative process. The nature of our landscape has no doubt impacted on my creative process, particularly my painting and sculpture. My work evolves from what I term a surrealist anthropomorphic evolution of nature. In drawing however, I try to capture a feeling of reality. My main obsession is the children of my neighborhood, since they are a true reflection of our creole way of life.
